Callaghan’s primary objective is to support science and technology-based innovation and its commercialisation by businesses, and liberate innovators. Their environments need to support their people to be able to deliver this.
The project was a refurbishment of the old library, a five story existing building at the Gracefield site.
Working with the Warren & Mahoney design, Vidak’s solutions not only needed to be fit for purpose functionally, but work with the new fit out design, which incorporated a number of sustainable materials and paid homage to the natural environment and cultural history of Aotearoa NZ. This required the ability to utilise a number of different materials including natural timber and ply wood.
As with any modern fit out, integration and support of technology was important, and this was coordinated with Hawkins and Callaghan to ensure a positive experience for the users.
