The B:HIVE at Smales Farm
Project Overview
The first co-working space on Auckland’s North Shore, B:Hive, required a specialist furniture solution for their private meeting areas. Located in Smales Farm Precinct, the 11,000 m2, five-level building is host to a community of smart businesses, tech startups, creatives and entrepreneurs. The progressive work environment offers dedicated workstations and shared collaborative / meeting areas, located within the open floorplan around a centralised atrium.
Solution
Fully enclosed Urban Pods were selected for the private meeting areas within this busy work space. The 37dB acoustically-rated structures offer the ideal balance of acoustic privacy and flexibility as they can be repositioned on the floor plate at short notice. More cost-effective than traditional meeting rooms, the pods don’t require the same building consents as built solutions.
Twenty Urban 3 Pods (four-person) and eight Urban 4 Pods (6-person) were fully fitted out with power and power and data outlets, writeable glass walls, and mounted tablets for hassle-free room booking.
Each Pod was uniquely customised with striking graphics which add personality to the space and assist in visual wayfinding and navigation around the building.
Engage workstations with feature screens and cable management solutions provide a tidy, productive work environment. Other solutions included Blade Focus Booths and storage Mobiles.
