Southern Cross Horticulture

As a producer and key supplier of kiwifruit, Southern Cross Horticulture (SCHORT) were inspired by the new Zespri Head Office in Mount Manganui completed in early 2019. Approached by SCHORT, Vidak worked closely with their team create a version of their own ‘mini-Zespri’.

The Vidak team spent time understanding the company’s operations and ways of working to develop a solution that boosted productivity as well as exemplified the company brand.

Engage Rise electric sit-to-stand desks were provided for office-based staff. An Engage Touchdown bench works well for more mobile salespeople and contractors, encouraging more flexible ways of working and maximising the floorspace available.

Three separate meetings rooms were built with a variety of table options including Blade and Blade Folding tables. The ability to move and flip the tables allow staff to re-orientate the format of the two rooms for both work and social functions.

Escape seating creates a buffer spaces between the main office and kitchen area, as well as adding more colour and acoustic absorption. Prop tables allow the space to be used as an additional workspace if needed.

A TP4 phone booth allows staff and visitors to make confidential calls without wasting valuable meeting room space or disturbing colleagues.

Custom lockers provided necessary storage space for employee belongings and also helped divide the workplace and photocopy/utility area.

The contrast of corporate colours against the natural wood and timber finishes across the tenancy, help create a sophisticated, yet inviting place to work.

Although not a large space, through the careful selection of furniture and technology this new office has changed the way the SCHORT staff approach both their work and environment as a whole.
